WASHINGTON D.C.

Don't mess with D.C.! With its hard people, the nation's capital can be surprisingly rough. Knowing the right places, though, this is the ultimate tourist destination. A full 10 days was barely enough time to see all of D.C.'s free highlights.

Hands down, the greatest destination for me was the National Spelling Bee. As an avid child speller, it was truly a dream come true. The top spellers were astounding in their skill to figure out the most incomprehensible words.

As a self-proclaimed library hopper, visting the Library of Congress was also an unbelievable experience. The Library is the largest in the nation, and technically, the second largest in the world. It was the best souvenir to get a library card from here.

Naturally, there were the White House; National Monument; and even President Washington's estate, an understated treasure to witness.
