CUZCO, PERU

I like to joke that individuals are not truly backpackers until they see Machu Picchu. In spite of all the tourist hulabaloo over the site, the World Heritage Site is nowhere near overrated. Machu Picchu was truly spectacular.

It wasn't a streamline trip. I nearly fell over on the first day for altitude sickness, and I looking for the right bus, I stowed away for a day with a Spanish-speaking tour.

The people were warm, and the pace of life had slowed to a reflective pace.
