AUSTIN

Austin keeps it weird! It was fun to see the Cathedral of Junk in all its magnificence, and the jackalope, a mythical rabbit with antlers was also an entertaining discovery.

From even the first night, I noticed a few striking differences distinctive to the South. The locals were not afraid to use the N-word in their country songs, and female anatomy was exposed at liberty – bikini bars and movies of topless women were not uncommon!

Best of all, the rich Texan food was scrumptious. After waiting in line for hours for extraordinary, typically sold out barbeque, I relished chowing down Austin's fat, gourmet donuts.

SAN ANTONIO

San Antonio is a tourist hot spot. Surrounding the Alamo, there is the stunning River Walk. Underneath tunnels lined with restaurants and attractions, gondolas float along the river.

After exploring the River Walk, I enjoyed my Airbb's truly Southern hospitality. In the kitchen, a milk bottle and assorted Southern treats like apple sauce awaited me. I felt right at home.
